War and Peace Show 2014

Last week I drove down to Folkestone with my Brother-in-law to visit Europe's largest living history and Military event. This two day road trip was planned in advance of my recent work related troubles and was a welcome distraction from job hunting and self recrimination! I really needed to get out of the house as two weeks of lone captivity have already started to wear down my sanity. So with roasting hot weather and potential thunderstorms on the horizon we set off on Friday morning for the War and Peace show.

As usual I went camera in hand, although this year I decided to travel light and just took my new Canon G15. I'm really happy with how it performed. Considering the huge site and how far we had to walk over the two days I'm sure I made the right decision taking this rather than my much bulkier and heavier DSLR kit. I shot in excess of a thousand photo's over two days (!!!) and am currently working my way through them all, editing them down to a manageable number and adding labels, captions and tags before uploading to 'the cloud'. Here's a few teaser photo's in the meantime and more will follow over the next few days.

Car crushing fun - This FV432 owner crushes his own car!

I look like I've just 'bagged' this Panzer in a hunt!

We met lots of Celebrities from the nerdy world of Military History and Militaria, including Bruce Crompton from the TV series Combat Dealers.

I'll post loads more pictures as soon as I have finished labeling them. I'm about two thirds of the way through but I have a few little things to do this afternoon, like job hunting and interviews and stuff (sigh!).
