Well my plans for holiday posting have completely gone out the window. I may be doing Greek Broadband a disservice, but thus far my impression is that it reminds me of the dial-up speeds I used to get a decade ago! Any idea I had of backing up my photos on a daily basis have long since been abandoned. The photo in this post for instance took over half an hour to upload; and this was after resizing it to make it easier to transfer!
I have a stack of photos of the Fortress of Rhodes; several museums within its walls ; and it's associated historic harbour outside. Hopefully by the end of our second week I'll have more pictures of historical interest to share... but not before I get back to civilization and proper broadband speeds!!
Lee,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're having a very relaxing time.
I've been to Corfu but never to Rhodes, so I'm looking forward to seeing your photographs. I seem to remember that Rhodes was used for the location shooting for THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, one of my all time favourite films.
Enjoy your rest.
All the best,
Bob
Anthony Quinn bought a bay near here after filming finished (according to the guidebook). If we get a chance I was going to visit, but only if a bus takes us all the way there...far too hot to walk any serious distance.
DeleteThe bay is beautiful. There are boat trips you can go on Mr H?
DeleteThere are lots of boat trips available. There are lots of options in Mandraki Harbour (the old harbour in Rhodes) going all along the coast. But we also found several smaller cruise boats heading out and picking people up all along the coast.
DeleteEnjoy the sun and the scenery!
ReplyDeleteI surely am!
DeleteThat does look relaxing!
ReplyDeleteAhhh yes. We've been doing most of our trips out in the morning and coming back to the hotel pool for the afternoon.
DeleteI’m envious of the down time! Enjoy the holiday. π
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI think just accept the fact that updating is a lost cause and carry on with the relaxation - you certainly look on top of it. Looking forward to seeing the photographs on your return.
ReplyDeleteI've found an expensive workaround solution (lots of phone hotspot data) but it's still very slow. I had hoped to be able to edit and label photos at ease around the pool or in our room, but it's a painfully slow process.
DeleteHi Lee,
ReplyDeleteRhodes is a fantastic place and I know just how hot it can be at this time of year! If you get the chance take a trip to Lindos.
All the best,
DC
We went to Lindos last week. A beautiful place. Afraid I took one look at the climb up to the Acropolis (in +33° heat) and decided I'd rather go for a swim.
DeleteIt nearly killed me and Holly, climbing that hill. We'll worth it though.
DeleteGo to the Guns of Navarone restaurant!!
ReplyDeleteI'll look it up and see if it near enough to visit.
