I have often had conversations about realism versus playability in wargames, especially when it comes to Historical wargaming. How much realism is too much will vary from player to player depending on if they are a rivet counter or a hobbyist.
I dont think its matter of either or, games can be both if designed well for that task.
The other major issue I have with these conversations is that, many people forget the word "fun" is subjective. I have fun playing Advanced Squad Leader but am bored playing memoir 44. Many others the other way around. It all comes down to personal preference.
Thank you for leaving a comment. I always try to reply as soon as I can, so why not pop back later and continue the conversation. In the meantime, check out my YouTube channel Miniature Adventures TV
